The Problem — QR Generators That Feel Like Scams

You know the feeling: you need a QR code right now. Maybe it's for a brochure, a poster, or a business card. You Google "QR code generator" and click the first result.

Then the tricks start.

• Email gates: "Get full resolution" — just enter your email first.
• Fake static codes: it says static, but when you download the high-res version, it's secretly dynamic — linking through their tracking server. Now your printed materials depend on a third party staying online.
• Bait-and-switch pricing: print 5,000 brochures with their "free" QR code, then get hit with a paywall when the redirect stops working.

I'd been burned by this cycle too many times. Every time someone asked me, "Where should I get a QR code?", I had no good answer — because every tool I knew had some catch.

That's why I built Fair-QR. Not as a business, but as the tool I wished existed: a QR code generator that doesn't play games.

The name says it all. This is what a QR code generator should be: fair.

People kept asking me for recommendations, and I finally had enough. I sat down and built the tool I'd recommend without hesitation — one that respects your time, doesn't harvest your email, and won't hold your QR codes hostage.

Optional extensions — without weakening the free core promise

Fair-QR still does exactly what it set out to do: give you honest, free static QR codes. The full generator remains usable without login, payment, or hidden redirects.

Since launch, two optional extensions have been added, deliberately separated from the free core.

Smart QR codes at a fair price

For use cases that need more than a static QR code, Fair-QR now offers optional Smart QR codes. They make it possible to change or route the destination after printing, configure smart routing, and understand which scans happen through the code.

That is useful for campaigns, posters, flyers, promotions, or audiences that need different destinations. The difference from the usual QR-code industry is the intent: the static generator is not artificially limited to force an upgrade later. Smart QR is a clear add-on for people who actively want routing and analytics.

Digital menus from a few photos

For restaurants, snack bars, cafes, and bars, Fair-QR also includes a menu generator. Instead of manually typing every category, dish, and price, owners can upload one or more photos of their existing menu.

AI extracts the content from the images and turns it into a polished online menu. Everything stays editable afterwards: text, prices, categories, order, and design can still be adjusted at any time. That turns one or two photos into a digital menu in a few clicks, ready to share with a QR code.

It fits the original idea behind Fair-QR: simple tools for real everyday problems, without unnecessary barriers or artificial complexity.
